The Avett Brothers

I subscribe to a very cool email newsletter called Bearings that comes out every couple weeks. They dub themselves “A Southern Lifestyle Guide for Men.” But I bet the ladies would dig it too.

Their content varies – art, food, style, sport, music – and it’s always on point with a great southern flare. I highly recommend the newsletter…and it’s free. :)

I received the Bearings email this morning, and I was excited to see an interview with The Avett Brothers – a great Norther Carolina bluegrass/rock band that I highlighted in our OBX Tunes blog series a few weeks ago. The Avett Brothers channel is my go-to on Pandora.

The Avett Brothers have a new CD coming out in September, and Bearings was chatting with them about the CD and recording in Asheville, NC. It’s a great interview. And then I hit the 2nd to last question asking what makes NC so unique, and I was super jazzed to see the answer…

“The eastern part of the state and the coast is even more subtle and has a whole different story. I just came back from the Outer Banks, and when you see the dunes and the grass blowing in the wind – it has this inviting, warm feeling. I’m too in love with North Carolina. I hold it so dear to my heart – its mystery pulls on me and keeps me here.”

The Avett Brothers love the Outer Banks! And they were just here for vacation. Awesome.

You can find the full interview if you signup with Bearings…go for it, it’s rad. :)

Here’s a live version of their new single, “Live and Die”…
